Mara Bicas


Mara Bicas is a PhD student in Sociology (speciality Democracy in the Twenty-first Century) and a junior researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She also integrated the ALICE research project (ERC), coordinated by Boaventura de Sousa Santos. She graduated in Social work and holds a master degree in Community Psychology about the processes of democratization of democracy with the Landless Workers Movement (MST), Brazil. Her main fields of research are Epistemologies of the South, postcolonial studies, indigenous democracies, plurinational political pluralism and intercultural democracy, especially in the Bolivian context.
