Ligia Santos
Biography
I am currently a PhD student at the Doctoral programme in Human Rights in Contemporary Societies of the Centre for Social Studies (CES), University of Coimbra, Portugal, started at October 2017. The proposal is to contribute to the research on existing forms and creating new responses and other housing models that ensure quality of living for homeless people and drug addicts in social vulnerability of the city of Lisbon, Portugal and the city of São Paul, Brasil. In June of 2016, I achieved a Master of Science in University of São Paulo (USP). In my thesis, I analyzed the public policies with social impact, about the labor right and right to have access to public health. Therewithal, I have practice organizing major events, such as international congresses and coordinating monitoring committees. Engaged with my professional improvement, I supervised and coordinated a team of 20 Research Assistants at the Faculty of Medicine (USP, Brasil), granted by the United States Department of Mental Health (NIMH), and I was responsible for the selection and training of the Research Assistants as well as the management of data collection. Furthermore, I was responsible to have weekly follow-up meetings and interviews with the Public Health Units managers. Believing in what I am constantly studying and improving my knowledge in Human Rights field, which empowered me to be a leader and motivate a team in a public health research and be a Human Right activist. I like challenges and adventures. I am confident and curious, and I am always willing to develop new knowledge and skills. When necessary, my creativity enable me to solve problems with agility and effectiveness. I am methodical, organized, focused and above all, extremely dedicated to my commitments.
