Leticia Gontijo Furst Goncalves
Biography
Leticia G.F. Gonçalves has over 15 years of experience in the insurance sector including 8 years in microinsurance. She was most recently an independent consultant working for GIZ Germany, GIZ Brazil, ILO Microinsurance Innovation Facility, Access to Insurance Initiative, and IADB/FOMIN projects. Leticia began her career at the Brazilian private insurance sector with Bradesco Seguros SA. In 2011 she became a Fellow with the ILO Microinsurance Innovation Facility, working for Aseguradora Rural in Guatemala. Leticia's duties at Aseguradora Rural included: coordinating the microinsurance project (providing continuing liaison with different departments and stakeholders) with focus on the design, implementation and monitoring of "Vivo Segura" (health/life product), supporting consultants on the market research and product design of a health product for microcredit clients, developing partnership with local health providers and staff training. In 2013 she worked for the Access to Insurance Initiative project "Implementation of regulatory and supervisory standards in microinsurance in Latin America" conducting the Colombian and Peruvian country diagnostics. Although Leticia's speciality lies in Latin America, she has also analyzed and worked on microinsurance products around the world. Leticia is currently completing her PhD in Territory, Risk and Public Policies at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. She holds a Master's degree in Peace, Security, Development and International Conflict Transformation (Innsbruck University, Austria), a Specialization degree in Strategic Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Law. Leticia is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and is currently learning German and French.
