Anastasia Oprea


Biography

Anastasia obtained in 2008 a Bachelor degree in International Relations and European Studies at the University of Bucharest, in her home town. She then attended a postgraduate course in Conflict and Crisis Management at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She then pursued her dream to obtain a MSc in African Studies at the ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon, Portugal, which she concluded in 2013. Her dissertation focused on depictions of gender violence and securitization agendas present in Western representations (documentaries and films) of conflict contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her research interests include: feminism, gender studies, queer studies & queer IR, European studies, peace studies, political ecology, citizenship studies.
