Educational Processes in Daily Social Practises in Contemporary Brazil

Abstract

This seminar will discuss the role of everyday social practices in educational processes. The discussion will focus on questions stemming from ongoing research of two visiting students, addressing emerging social forms in medium cities in contemporary Brazil.

Pedro Dutra (Federal University of São Carlos) will present a reflection on educational processes in the practices and discourses regarding the Coral Trovadores do Vale, following the preliminary ethnographic work in the Jequitinhonha Valley in Minas Gerais, focusing on the effects of the logic of the development and coloniality.

Ana Luiza Salgado (Federal University of São Carlos) will discuss the relationship between Popular Education and the Brazilian University, through Outreach Activities at the Federal University of São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo, following the mapping of the profile of the Outreach Activities of the Federal University of São Carlos, and interviews with the coordinators of selected Outreach projects.
