February 19, 2016, 09h00
Mumbai (India)
Abstract
Heritage of Portuguese influence in the Mumbai region has been under-researched and often neglected. Many of the city's oldest buildings are associated to the East Indian community, having a rich and diverse heritage value. The symposium "i-Mumbai: Identity, Religion and Heritage of Portuguese influence on the fringes of an Indian metropolis" to be organised by CES Coimbra, and KRVIA, Mumbai, on the 19th and 20th February 2016, aims at debating heritage and conservation interventions, both at urban and building levels. The symposium will also broaden the relation between the two institutions, which already have a tie-up through the post-doctoral project of Sidh Losa Mendiratta.
