Abstract

The relationship between culture and development is now contemplated in various United Nations documents. On the 10 th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Protection and Promotion of Cultural Diversity, we want highlight the critical relation between culture and sustainable development addressed at the article 13 of this paradigmatic document.

The Portuguese-speaking world, or “lusotópie” constitutes today as a meeting and intercultural dialogue space. We want summarize what has been done in this space on the subject of adoption of this Convention.

In addition to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Convention in 2015 will also be the year that will be discussed in the UN Sustainable Development Goals that will mark the international agenda until the middle of the millennium. One of the issues that have been highlighted in the field of development aid is the lack of specific objectives related to culture.

Analyze how and relationship and between culture and development can be articulated from lusotópico case.

The program provides for university research seminars, an exhibition, the publication of a special issue in the journal and the creation of an event page where results will be presented. We will appeal for the participation of  the academia and civil society organization.
