Paula Casaleiro was distinguished with the Best Doctoral Thesis Award 2017/2018 by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC), for the work «Justiça procura Perícia(s). Os processos de regulação das responsabilidades parentais» [Justice seeks Expertise(s). Processes of regulation of parental responsibilities'], whose research was carried out under the Doctoral Programme «Law, Justice, and Citizenship in the Twenty-First Century»

Under supervision of Sílvia Portugal, and publicly defended on July 24, 2017,  it sought to «reflect on the relationship between the law and justice of family and children and judicial expertise, between magistrates and experts, in the application family and child rights in Portuguese courts, and their contribution to the direct or indirect (re)production of gender (un)equality. "

This prize, funded by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, awarded 1500 euros and the possibility of publishing the thesis in a book.

Paula Casaleiro is a junior researcher at CES and member of DECIDe. She has a PhD in Sociology of Law and an M.A. in Sociology at the School of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Since 2005 she has participated in several research projects at CES. Her current research priorities include family and children law and justice, law and science and gender issues.
