Portuguese Political Science Association Award (2014)
Teresa Almeida Cravo and Ramon Blanco distinguished

Teresa Almeida Cravo, researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), University of Coimbra, and Ramon Blanco, PhD in International Politics and Conflict Resolution (CES and FEUC - Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra) were distinguished as joint winners of the Portuguese Political Science Association Award for the best doctoral thesis in Political Science and International Relations, 2014 edition.
The distinction awarded to Teresa Almeida Cravo was due to the doctoral thesis “What's in a Label? The Aid Community's Representations of Success and Failure in Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau”, research undertaken as part of the PhD Programme in International Politics and Conflict Resolution and presented at the University of Cambridge in 2012.
As for Ramon Blanco, the reward results from the doctoral thesis “Peace the Government: The (Bio)Politics of State-Building” publicly defended in 2013.
The Portuguese Political Science Association Award is intended to stimulate creativity and rigor in research work in the areas of Political Science and International Relations. The Award is granted to the best doctoral dissertation in these disciplines and has a value of 1500 euros.
The jury, chaired by António Costa Pinto, had as members Ana Paula Brandão, Paula Duarte Lopes, Manuel Meirinho Martins, Fernando Farelo Lopes, Pedro Tavares de Almeida, André Azevedo Alves and André Barata Nascimento.
Licínia Simão (CES) was distinguished with this award in the 2012 edition with the thesis “Forging the wider European security community: prospects for the neighbourhood policy in the South Caucasus”.
