III CES Doctoral Students Conference

«Coimbra C – state of siege, displaced States» is the motto of the third edition of the Graduate Student Conference that will take place on the 9th and 10th November 2012 in Coimbra (exact location to be confirmed) at the School of Economics, which follows the path inaugurated in 2010.

Determined by a special «state of siege» within our academic and social contexts, the third edition of the Conference of Doctoral Students of the Center for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra invites you to present reflections anchored in the  huge present  transformations which give continuity to the worldwide reconfigurations that took place in the last century. We challenge you to deepen the analysis on contemporary social reality, through interdisciplinary approaches about the phenomena under study.
Our conference thus presents a new and motivating boarding station to the presentation of papers and posters by graduate students, researchers, as well as other students of varied universities and institutions. The discussion opened by these works and researches will help to promote both reflection and dialogue about a new world in the making, as well as the debate around « displaced states» on national and global scales.

Conference topics:

Cultural studies, literature and arts
Cities, patrimony and urban conservation
Social structures, institutions and inequalities
Social participation, changes and emancipation
International politics
Cultural representations and patrimony
Law, justice and democracy
Work in change
