Outlook

Overview

The public intellectual and social scientist Shiv Visvanathan comments on the marginality and stigmatization of migrants in Indian society, in the face of the accumulation of vulnerabilities enhanced by the COVID-19 pandemic, when it finds what the author calls “trauma of informal society”. Migrants are sent to a condition of liminality, faced with their exclusion from the emergent narratives of the pandemic and crisis, thus becoming “black holes and black boxes of chronicles of the pandemic”.
