Bio note
Ana Rita Brito is a sociologist, feminist and specialist in gender equality and human rights. She is a founding partner of Akto – Human Rights and Democracy, where she coordinates projects promoting citizenship, gender equality and the prevention of violence against women and girls. With extensive experience in training and social intervention, she has worked in the areas of human trafficking, gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices, as part of teams providing shelter and protection for victims. She has represented the Portuguese Platform for Women's Rights at several sessions of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Her career combines intervention, training, and activism, with a strong commitment to equality, social justice and women's rights.
