Room 1, CES | Alta
As part of a proposal by the North|South Library (BNS) to recognise the work of the CES Observatories, we are starting our programme with an exhibition and screening of the documentary “creatour.pt - creative tourism in Portugal” produced as part of the CREATOUR project (2016-2020), coordinated by the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra.
The Bibliographic Exhibition will consist of material produced as part of the project and material available in the North|South Library, relating to the themes researched during the project, and will be available at the North|South Library’s display between January 8 and 31, 2024.
Through an inspiring journey across the country, this documentary highlights the first-hand experience of some of the creative tourism initiatives developed under the CREATOUR project (www.creatour.pt). This documentary aims to (i) draw attention to the organisations in Portugal that have designed and implemented a wide range of creative tourism offers under the CREATOUR project, as co-researchers, entrepreneurs and catalysts for local networks; (ii) promote the concept of creative tourism as a sustainable, small-scale, community-based tourism; (iii) emphasise Portugal as a tourist destination that promotes the enhancement of cultural and natural heritage and the defence of sustainable tourism practises through creative experiences and cultural immersion; and (iv) present the main dimensions of the CREATOUR multidisciplinary action-research project, which has inspired other creative tourism initiatives internationally.
Concluded at the end of 2019, it’s worth noting that this documentary has won eight (8) awards and three (3) finalist nominations at national and international festivals.
The documentary, fully subtitled in Portuguese, English, Italian and Greek, is available for viewing in its entirety on the CES YouTube channel. It will also be presented on 31 January 2024 (between 16h30 and 18h00, in Room 1 of CES-Alta).
