The Motricities of the South have in their essence tradition and resistance to colonial and epistemic domination through social practises of games, fights, dances, festivals, songs, storytelling, rituals and artistic creations, with their own characteristics of socially marginalised peoples and communities located in the context of the South, such as native, autochthonous or indigenous peoples, remnants of quilombolas, caiçaras, popular peripheral neighbourhoods and rural communities that fight for their identities and manifestations. Anchored in Manuel Sérgio's Science of Human Motricity, Boaventura de Sousa Santos' Epistemologies of the South and Paulo Freire's Dialogic Pedagogy, the Motricities of the South constitute social practises that do not dichotomise the physical and the mind, the body and the soul, the person and the world, being and nature.

This workshop looks at the educational processes unleashed in three social practises developed by ongoing research and which are situated in the context of the international cooperation project Motricidades do Sul: Contra o Desperdício da Experiência [Motricities of the South: Against the Waste of Experience], namely: storytelling for children in hospitals; leisure in the context of a shelter for indigenous Venezuelan refugees in Brazil; and play in the context of a social leisure project for children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability.

In this context, this initiative is constituted as a cross-cutting dialogue on these three themes, also aiming to dialogue with the experiences and knowledges of the various participants.
