Feminist Talk with Filipa Alves and Ana Costa: "Casa da Esquina" as a feminist project

As part of the Gender Workshop Series and the Feminist Talks Series, which aim to showcase feminist work in the most diverse areas of intervention, this conversation aims to publicise Casa da Esquina and its various intervention projects in the field of gender through the arts and community action. Bio notes
Filipa Alves
has a degree in Portuguese Studies and a postgraduate qualification in “Social Economy - Cooperativism, Mutualism and Solidarity” from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC/UC), having also studied for a Masters in Feminist Studies. Together with Sandra Alves, she coordinates Casa da Esquina, a cultural association that creates dynamics for reflection and debate on different themes and seeks transdisciplinarity in the field of the arts.

Ana Parada da Costa (Coimbra, 1957)
Degree in History and Master’s with the thesis “Women and Trade Unionism”.
Member and leader of national and European Women’s Rights NGOs (Graal, Akto, Mulheres Século XXI, European Women’s Lobby - EWL Brussels and Association of Women of Southern Europe – AFEM.
Represented Portuguese NGOs at CEDAW.
Member of the Advisory Board of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality - CIG.
Member of the Portuguese Economic and Social Council - CES PT - representing women’s NGOs.
Member of Casa da Esquina - House of Arts.
Feminist activist.
