The research project SANTACRUZ, 3D digital reconstruction of the Monastery of Santa Cruz de Coimbra in 1834, FCT project 30704 based at CES, took place between July 2018 and June 2022.

The project's final video will be publicly presented on 12 and 13 July at the emblematic Café Santa Cruz, and seeks to summarise the main results achieved in terms of historical and documentary research, the creation of a digital 3D model of the monastery, the hypothetical reconstruction of Hodart's “Last Supper” and the development of architectural projects to enhance the Monastery of Santa Cruz and the surrounding area.

The Santa Cruz Project had Rui Lobo as Principal Investigator and Mauro Costa Couceiro as Co-Principal Investigator. The final video was directed by Francisco Henriques, with editing, animation and visual effects by Blackshell/João Pedro and English-language voiceover by Amanda Booth.

Bio notes 

Rui Lobo | is a professor at the Architecture Department of FCTUC and a researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra. He holds PhD in Architecture, in 2010, at the University of Coimbra: A Universidade na Cidade. Urbanismo e Arquitectura universitários na Península Ibérica da Idade Média e da primeira Idade Moderna. He has produced research in the field of Theory and History of Architecture, particularly in the history of university architecture and urbanism and in the history of Portuguese architecture (16th to 18th centuries). He has taught course units of Architecture Theory and History, Design and Research Seminar. Between 2015 and 2018, he was Subdirector of the Department of Architecture of FCTUC. He was Principal Researcher of the Santa Cruz Research Project, financed by FCT and FEDER/COMPETE2020/POCI, between 2018 and 2022.

Francisco Henriques | Francisco Henriques holds a PhD in Science of Art and Heritage, and MFA in Art Theories. A Graphic Design graduate, he holds several specializations in Computer Graphics and Digital Image Manipulation.He is a researcher of the «Santa Cruz 3D project» (CES-UC), and at the CIEBA group «Francisco de Holanda – Ciências da Arte e do Património» (FBAUL – Faculty of Beaux Arts of the University of Lisbon).
