In this digital workshop, hosted by the Museu do Traje de São Brás de Alportel, we will present the experience of collaboratively creating a community museum on Canary Island, located in the Parnaíba River Delta Marine Extractive Reserve in north-eastern Brazil. An exercise in Social Museology that took into account the wishes and needs of the island's community in order to build an institution that is integrated into the territory, with the aim of actively safeguarding the local cultural heritage in a complex socio-cultural context that is constantly under threat due to its environmental richness.
