Overview
EnquadramentoThe central idea of this presentation relates to the legacies of Spanish colonialism and the juridical-biopolitical mechanism of the Inquisition in the configuration of massacres conducted by Colombian paramilitaries in the 1990s. Due to the paramilitaries’ level of territorial control, implementation of a legal procedural model, and political objective, I call this type of massacre a sovereign massacre. Therefore, the session reflects on the causes and procedures that led to the bare life of hundreds of victims in Colombia, contributing to historical memory processes. Secondly, it sheds new light on how the Colombian massacres were executed from a philosophical perspective; thirdly, this allows the establishment of a comparative study North-South Global concerning the practices of thanatopolitics.
