Masculinities in Debate
2023
This webinar series, developed in 2025 as part of the European project EQUI-Champions | Promoting inclusion, gender equity and non-violent models of masculinities in sports environment (2024–2025, led by CES, Status-M, Fútbol Más, and Fight for Peace), aims to discuss gender asymmetries in sport (both professional and amateur), gender-based violence and other forms of violence in sports settings, as well as the ways in which sport can both reproduce and challenge rigid and harmful gender norms and attitudes, particularly those linked to traditional masculinities.
This series of webinars explores topics such as:
- The connections between sport and masculinities;
- How sport-for-development approaches can help challenge gender stereotypes, address inequalities, and promote equity;
- The normalisation of violence, particularly gender-based violence, in sport.
Through this series, we aim to spark meaningful discussions towards creating more inclusive, healthy, and safe sports environments. The webinars will feature contributions from researchers, practitioners, and sport-for-development organisations, as well as researchers and professionals from gender equity organisations, particularly those focused on masculinities.
This activity is part of the European project EQUI-Champions | Promoting inclusion, gender equity and non-violent models of masculinities in sports environment (GA 101134522), funded by the European Union's Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
