«This book has a seminal character. Many epistemological and theoretical proposals that I later developed found their first formulation here. It can be read as a sociology of knowledge perspective on the genesis of scientific and philosophical ideas. But what is written in it is worthwhile in itself, all the more so because the evolution of my thought has led me to focus on some themes and not pursue others that in this book take the only formulation I have given them so far.
