About
Based on the results of the doctoral research on the intermediation role of Cape Verdean Solidarity Economy organisations in micro-credit and alternative financing, this seminar proposes to discuss Solidarity Economy financing systems, deepening the distinction between complementary and alternative financing and presenting the historical framework of the latter. In addition, the theme of sustainability in Solidarity Economy will be addressed, emphasising the distinction between sustainable development from the macro perspective and the concept of sustainability from the micro perspective
Bio note
Joana Guedes is an economist with a PhD in African Studies, with a thesis on the sustainability of micro-credit concessionary NGOs in Cape Verde. She is currently research assistant at the Centre for International Studies - IUL. She was a lecturer in Economics and Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and Portuguese Economy at the Institute of Research and Development Creative Territories. She is Executive Director of FESCOOP, Cooperative for the Development of Ethical and Solidarity Finance in Portugal, member of FEBEA - European Federation of Ethical and Solidarity Finance.
