Overview

The sexuality of people with functional diversity is getting more and more attention in Portugal, but their sexual rights and sexual health still encounter many obstacles and barriers under the eyes of close caregivers, family members, health professionals and society at large. These impediments determine the social, relational and sexual experiences of people with functional diversity (whether cognitive or motor) and determine their social, relational and sexual experiences with risk and resilience factors specific to their condition.

This Sharp Talk will share specific characteristics, difficulties and good practices of interventions with young people and adults with functional and mental diversity in their sexuality issues and the possible contributions to the realisation of their sexual rights and the equality and dignity they deserve.
