Overview

This seminar seeks to address theoretical and methodological elements of incubation work and community intervention, exploring the results of academic practices of researchers in the northeastern region of Brazil in the areas of community development and organisation, management of solidarity economic ventures and youth participation in urban and rural settlements, especially in agrarian reform settlements and urban social housing projects.

Bio note

Washington Sousa holds a PhD in Education. He completed a Senior Internship at the Royal Holloway of the University of London (CAPES/MEC) between 2013 and 2014, researching contemporary tendencies in third sector financing. He completed post-doctoral training at Birmingham Business School of the University of Birmingham (CAPES/MEC) between 2004 and 2005, researching historical bases of social management. He is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and works in the field of Civil Society in themes such as solidarity economy, agrarian reform, family agriculture, voluntary work, management of non-governmental organisations and social management of public policies. linked to the Postgraduate Programme in Administration and leader of the teaching, research and outreach group Organização de Aprendizagens e Saberes em Iniciativas Solidárias e Estudos no Terceiro Setor. Coordinates the Technological Undergraduate Course in Management of Cooperatives through the promotion of the National Programme of Education in Agrarian Reform (Pronera).
