Abstract
In recent decades, we have witnessed the expansion and multiplication of forms of political participation, especially those related to the involvement of the population in government programmes and/or policies. In order to reflect on the democratic challenges of these practices, studies have pointed to three dimensions of this substantial expansion of participatory innovations, namely the worldwide expansion of certain models, such as participatory budgeting; the expansion of areas, or themes, addressed in the scope of participatory modalities; and the pluralization and multiplication of actors and institutions that promote and support participatory innovation programmes and mechanisms in different countries or subnational contexts. In this sense, this seminar intends to address the "interfaces" issue of socio-state interfaces, mobilizing some dimensions, both at the institutional level (trajectories, resources and rules) as well as the performance of agents (political, bureaucratic and social).

Lígia Helena Hahn Lüchmann is Professor of the Department of Sociology and Political Science and the Postgraduate Programme in Political Sociology of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), linked to the Research Line "Social Movements, Participation and Democracy". PhD in Social Sciences from Unicamp, post-doctoral degree from the University of British Columbia. PQ/CNPq Researcher and coordinator of the Research Centre on Social Movements (NPMS/UFSC). She has studied and published on the following topics: associativism, democratic theory, participatory institutions and new forms of political representation.
