Overview
This seminar addresses, from the methodological perspective of the case study, the analysis of the community radio Onda Color de Palma-Palmilla in 2016, considered an underprivileged neighbourhood in the city of Málaga (Spain) in southern Europe. This citizen project must be contextualized within the community plan developed in the neighbourhood of Palm Palmilla where the radio comes from.
Under this citizen initiative lies a process of appropriation and democratisation of communication as a common good, through the use of a citizen’s logic of the Third Sector of communication and social movements.
This study is part of the MINECO R&D project "Evaluación y monitorización de la Comunicación para el Desarrollo y el Cambio Social en España: diseño de indicadores para la medición de su incidencia social” (CSO2014-52005-R. 2015-2017) (IP: Víctor M. Marí Sáez). This project has several main objectives that, in this study, are specified in the two research questions that have guided it:
What theoretical approach has predominated in the communicative actions developed by this radio station?
What results, susceptible of being disseminated and reproduced in other contexts, come out of the study of this station regarding the way in which communication has been conceived and practiced from an approach of social change?
