Workshop
Portugal Participa "Citizen Participation in Municipal Civil Protection Policies"
September 28, 2015, 10h00 - 13h00
CES-Lisboa
Framework
Civil Protection community centres incorporate the logic of joint and coordinated work of local organs of civil protection and volunteer citizens and are based on the understanding that the participation of residents of the most vulnerable areas is critical towards the prevention and risk minimizing of adverse events.
The exhibition will be based on a concrete and successful experiment in municipalities in the metropolitan area of Recife, in northeastern Brazil, where the involvement of the population in the planning and management of risks has generated a positive response from disaster prevention to emergencies preparation and even reconstruction of affected scenarios.
The event is held under the Portugal Participa Project, implemented by the In Loco Association in partnership with the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and the Municipalities of Cascais Funchal and Porto and is funded by the Active Citizenship Programme of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
