Public release of Ecology and Society Workshop a working group of the Centre for Social Studies conducting research/action in political ecology. The event will be split into three parts: the first is an interactive audiovisual exhibition on the research activities of the ECOSOC/CES team under the projects ‘Entitle’ European Research Network in Political Ecology, 'Ejolt' (Atlas of Environmental Conflicts) and 'Portugal: moving environment' - a partnership between CES (Coimbra), SOCIUS (Lisbon) and CETEM (Rio de Janeiro). The exhibition includes an interactive map on environmental conflicts in Portugal which was prepared in collaboration with different groups/associations/Portuguese activists.
In the second part, the event will feature a lecture by Professor Joan Martinez Alier, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, reference author for European and Latin American political ecology, project coordinator of 'Ejolt' and director of the journal Ecología Política. At last, the screening of Toxic Amazon, by Felipe Milanez (researcher at ECOSOC/ CES and 'entitle'), award-winning UN Hero of the Forest in 2011.
