Framework

Since 2008 we have witnessed an increasingly intense debate between the narratives of the causes of the Europe’s current economic and financial crisis and the best strategic response policies. In this debate, the media has been a prime location for legitimizing the dominant narratives. Recognizing the informational field as an arena marked by ideological disputes, political groups and journalists have progressively established information and communication projects that aim to give voice to non-dominant and/or invisible narratives. This seminar aims to analyse and discuss the different strategies and initiatives of counter-hegemonic political communication developed from Southern Europe, in the midst of the current European context.
