Historical note
The Centro Comercial Avenida  is a shopping center built on Avenida Sá da Bandeira, in Coimbra, in the mid 80s .
Replaced a small theater that existed there built in the early twentieth century. The Teatro Avenida, initially designated Teatro Circo Príncipe Real D. Luís Filipe, was inaugurated in 1893 and corresponded to the type of circus or Coliseum (circular space with dome and two rings of cabins), after the establishment of the Republic has been renamed Teatro Avenida or Teatro Circo Coimbra. Although the spaces of reception and lobby were built in stone masonry, space and central dome had metal structure, the stage for musical or theatrical performances , as often happens in typology Coliseum, was shallow and guided the room .
The Teatro Avenida  hosted singer José Afonso in 1967 and 1968 , times of great student unrest . It had a cafe .
