International Colloquium

25 April 40 Years of Future

October 15, 2014

Auditorium & Keynes Room, Faculty of Economics | University of Coimbra

The Centre for Social Studies (CES), in partnership with 25 April Documentation Center (CD25A), has organized a series of events in 2014 in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Portuguese Carnation Revolution. These include exhibitions, movie screenings, symposiums, meetings and conferences, amongst others.

The highlight of this cycle of events will be the International Colloquium 25 April 40 Years of Future. This event, that will take place on the 15 October at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, will enable a liaison between past and present in order to re/think the future in its multiple dimensions. With a critical outlook, sustained by engaged, pluridisciplinary and thematically diversified contributions, the aim of this Colloquium is to promote a socially relevant debate about the 25 April and its legacies. We also expect to contribute to rethinking the achievements and limits that have emerged in the past 40 years of the construction of democracy in Portugal, as well as the prospects which, anchored in the present time, we must imagine.
