Colloquium on the subject of 40 years of the Third Congress of the Democratic Opposition, that on April 7, 1973 in Aveiro gathered over 4000 opponents to the regime.  The intention is not only to remember that it was one of the important moments of the struggle against the dictatorship - and that was marked, among other things, by a brutal police charge – as to produce a historiographical analysis of the event and the political and social context in which it unfolds, and to seize the moment to stimulate debate on the current Congress and its legacy.
