Abstract

In the last decades, a significant transformation of legal professions has been its increasing feminization. In this scenario a question
becomes eminent: when it comes to the feminisation of the judiciary, does one seek to reflect only the increase in the number of women in the judiciary or, on the contrary, is it possible to talk about a different way to apply law and do justice marked by a gender perspective?

Aiming to fill this gap in socio-legal research in Portugal, the general objective of this seminar is to discuss the existence of a female model in the administration of justice and if there is a feminine model of judging. We will try to understand if there is a feminization of justice, not only in quantitative, but also qualitative terms, and if this contributes to the emergence of a new judicial culture.

This seminar will also approach a comparative analysis, from different countries, on decision making, administration and management of justice and narratives on gender among the judges and public prosecutors.
