Bruno Gil distinguished with Nuno Teotónio Pereira Award

October 2019

Bruno Gil, professor at the Department of Architecture (DARQ), Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) and researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), was honoured with the Nuno Teotónio Pereira Award for Scientific Production, Housing and Housing Models. This award aimed to distinguish his doctoral dissertation «Culturas de Investigação em Arquitetura: Linhas de pensamento nos centros de investigação, 1945-1974», conducted under the supervision of Mário Krüger and presented at the University of Coimbra.

The Scientific Production feature of this Award, granted by the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU), aims to «encourage university students and researchers on housing and urban rehabilitation issues in researching new approaches and presenting solutions that can contribute to the development of the sector, as well as disseminating studies and works that, by their characteristics, may serve as a reference for other studies, to guide practices or support sectoral policies».

At CES, Bruno Gil co-coordinates the project (EU)ROPA - Rise of Portuguese Architecture: Fundamentals, Platform, Progression. With a cultural approach to architecture teaching and research, while simultaneously targeting the specifics of their places and knowledge transfer networks, he has written articles for journals such as Architectural Research Quarterly, Docomomo Journal, Writingplace Journal, and Joelho, and in 2017 completed his doctoral thesis, now distinguished.
