Bibliographical Exhibition
The Multiple Faces of Crime
June 3 to 28, 2024
North/South Library Corridor (Display)
Crimes don't have a specific face.
They can be committed by people of different origins, ages, genders and social classes. Thus, the criminal can be anyone, regardless of their physical appearance or status.
No one should forget that crime brings with it a great deal of complexity, whether in terms of the degree of sophistication or uniqueness of its organisation, and this is reflected in the investigation process.
From a legal point of view, the process involves major legislative challenges; from a social point of view, its impact is far-reaching, partly because of the negative effect it has on victims and partly because, in the vast majority of cases, the alleged offenders are condemned before society, often before they have even been tried in court. But the important thing is to identify and hold accountable those who commit criminal acts.
The North South Library's aim with this exhibition is to showcase some works in its collection that highlight these themes.
