Seminar
Cultural Encounters and Contested Heritage
December 6, 2023, 14h15-18h30
Room 2, CES | Alta
The seminar "Cultural Encounters and Contested Heritage" explores the relationship between the cultural heritage associated with the period of Portuguese maritime expansion and issues of contested heritage. This event is organized by the Working Group "Memory and Contested Spaces", which was born out of the desire to find a space for work and debate at CES that would bring together all those interested in issues related to the construction, use and interpretation of space, understood primarily as architectural and artistic space, but also, in a broader sense, including literary space and the dimensions of memory. The seminar is organized in conjunction with the activities of the project PORTofCALL - Encounters between Africa, Asia and Europe: Cultural Heritage and Ports of Call in the Indian Ocean during the Early Modern Period.
