About

Under the motto "Feminist Talks", the XII edition of the Gender Workshop Series proposes a series of talks with people from different areas of intervention and work in the field of gender equality and women's dignity and well being in Portugal and Galicia. In this session, we will talk with Andrea Peniche, based on her work.


Bio note 

Andrea Peniche holds a degree in Philosophy and a Masters in Gender Studies from the University of Porto, with the dissertation, published in book form,  Elas somos nós. O direito ao aborto como reivindicação democrática e cidadã (Afrontamento, 2007). She is an editor by profession. Activist of the feminist collective A Coletiva, one of the organisers of the International Feminist Strike in Portugal. She mobilises and intervenes on gender equality issues from an anti-capitalist feminist perspective. She is the author of several texts in collective works and publications on feminist themes, among which "Feminism and Identity Politics" in Não posso ser quem somos? Identidades e estratégia política da esquerda (Bertrand, 2020), also published in Brazil, with slight transformations, by Expressão Popular (2021), and "A aventura das mulheres" in O Século XX Português.Política, Economia, Sociedade, Cultura, Império (Tinta-da-China, 2020).

Marcela Uchoa: Anti-capitalist feminist activist; PhD in Political Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra; researcher at the Institute of Philosophical Studies at the University of Coimbra; member of the Demos Forum.
