About

A democratic environment that encourages popular participation and diversity, in which especially vulnerable groups have a voice, is fundamental for the realisation of the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition (HRtAFN). The success of public policies on food and nutritional security is closely linked to the exercise of civil and political rights of the population. Thus, the right to demonstrate, to organise and hold meetings, freedom of expression and to come and go, listed among the pillars of the democratic rule of law, constitute, in the transversality and interdependence of human rights, highly relevant requirements for the realisation of HRtAFN.
