About

This Workshop aims to promote action in a Culture of Peace at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra - Portugal and the development of collaborative pedagogies. The practice of building mandalas favors respectful living environments, people who care and welcome their peers, community in general and the well-being of the planet. In addition, they are transformative and collaborative pedagogies that can be multiplied in different educational spaces, especially in primary and secondary schools.

The word mandala means in Sanskrit, circle, or yet: manda = essence and la = content, understood as "what contains essence" or "the circle of essence" (GRENN, 2005, p.7).

There will be three Huichol Mandala building workshops facilitated by the post-doc fellow Kelma Matos that include some theoretical and pedagogical reflections. Those wishing to participate are requested to bring wool yarn of various colours and wooden sticks (of kebabs).
