Filhos da (sua) mãe examines how evidence - documentary , testimonial and expertise -  is  produced and evaluated in unofficial paternity investigations and paternity investigation actions and the the modes of intervention of different actors in the production of public knowledge considered to be robust and reliable.

By articulating the science building with the legal building this book attempts to show how these two fields of knowledge can lead to the emergence of the redefinition of law and science and the need for an extended reflection on how scientific evidence is incorporated in judicial decision. It is important to analyze the centrality of DNA testing as a way to affect access to justice in accordance with the normal standards or acceptability of sexual and procreative behavior of women and men. Given the omissions listed in the law and the triggering of the truth machine, we shoe how new settings are new configurations of biological identity are recreated, in which  the gradation of the importance of the biological bond allocation depends on different situations in which the minor is generated and Judge that interprets the law.
