Enquadramento

The workshop will present two online resources for research funding and research training: the "Academic Careers Observatory" and the database of the digital project "Omera Social Sciences". After telling how they became personally involved in the two projects, the speakers will guide the audience through a practical exploration of the websites and explain the rationale according to which information is provided and organised.
Participants will be invited to share knowledge and make suggestions on the basis of their own experience with issues of funding and training.
Participants should bring their own laptop with wireless connection in order to have a direct experience of the websites during the presentation.

Notas biográficas

Michele Grigolo Michele Grigolo é pós-doutorando no CES, com bolsa de pós-doutoramento atribuída pela FCT. Possui o Doutoramento em Ciências Sociais e Políticas, obtido no Instituto Universitário Europeu (IUE), de Florença, e o Mestrado Europeu em Direitos Humanos e Democratização. Os seus interesses de investigação e ensino incluem: política, sociologia e direito de igualdade, não discriminação e dos direitos humanos, assim como políticas sociais e urbanas. No CES, Michele Grigolo está, atualmente, a produzir artigos científicos e a sua primeira monografia baseada na sua investigação de doutoramento sobre direitos humanos e cidades. Conta com artigos publicados no European Journal of International Law, no International Journal of Human Rights e no Ethnic and Racial Studies, para o qual está a coeditar um próximo número especial sobre raça e discriminação.

Michele Grigolo possui uma experiência de investigação internacional. Em 2010, foi investigador convidado no Instituto de Governo e Políticas Públicas da Universidade Autónoma de Barcelona. Durante o doutoramento, foi aluno de intercâmbio na Escola de Função Pública Robert Wagner, em Nova Iorque. Em 2003, recebeu a Bolsa Robert Schuman do Parlamento Europeu, tendo estudado na Direção-Geral da Investigação, no Luxemburgo. Em 2002, passou cinco meses no Centro de Direitos Humanos Dinamarquês para concluir a tese de mestrado.

É investigador e professor. Entre 2008 e 2009, foi colaborador científico no Programa Max Weber do IUE. Em 2009, colaborou num projeto de investigação financiado pelo Parlamento Europeu sobre a integração (mainstreaming) de direitos humanos nas relações externas da UE. Anteriormente, trabalhou num projeto financiado pelo Conselho das Regiões da UE sobre os governos locais e regionais. Lecionou a cadeira Política Social Europeia no Programa de Mestrado em Estudos Europeus da Universidade James Madison, em Florença. Participou em palestras e seminários em universidades italianas e espanholas.

Chiara Carrozza - I completed a PhD in Political Science at the Department of Political Studies of the University of Torino (January 2009). From 2009 to 2011 I have been lecturing Public Policy Analysis to undergraduates and graduates students and research methodology to graduate students. From May 2011 - and for the next three years - I am a post-doctoral fellow at CES - Centro de Estudos Sociais, University of Coimbra. I live in Portugal, between Coimbra and Lisbon.
I am currently developing two research projects. The first one focuses on expertise as a political resource in decision-making processes, following STS (Science and Technology) and IPA (Interpretive Policy Analysis) approaches. Empirical research in this field will tackle the evolution of the conceptualization of water as a "public issue" through expertise.
The second one, developed with Irene Bono for Twai (Torino World Affair Institute) research center, deals with the funding of social sciences’ research, with a particular concern for the narratives of "mobility" in the European research policies.
