Advanced Training Course

Research Experiences: Methodologies and Disquiets

February 16, 2011

Seminar Room (2nd Floor), CES-Coimbra

Presentation

This training course is organized within the scope of the Conference Portugal between Disquiets and Challenges, which will take place in the Auditory of the School of Economics of the University of Coimbra, in February 17th and 18th, 2011.

The Course Research Experiences: Methodologies and Disquiets aims at providing elements for the reflection on the relationship between methodology and social reality. Based on diverse reports about the research activity, we intend to stress the importance of the reflection on the experience toward an emancipatory epistemology.

The course sessions discuss the centrality of the methods in the construction of research paths, the problem of its politicization and its impact in the social sphere. In the first session, we will discuss the complex relationship with the State, the challenges faced by the research in result of public policies. In the second session, we will present considerations about the methodological experiences of valorisation of the subjects with whom researchers are associated. Finally, the Round Table ending the Course, coordinates by the organizing people, aims at, on one hand, consisting on a open space for discussion between all the participants and, on the other hand, systematizing and summarizing some of the course's main conclusions and proposals.
