Note of repudiation in solidarity with Mamadou Ba

29th June 2023

The Board of CES hereby unequivocally repudiates the racist and xenophobic insults directed at Mamadou Ba, after leaving an activity organised by the Centre, and publicly expresses its solidarity with him.

On 28 June, in the immediate vicinity of the CES premises, Mamadou Ba, an anti-racism activist and doctoral student at the University of British Columbia, was the target of degrading insults following his participation, at the invitation of the Centre, in a Summer School on "Endangered Theories: Standing by Critical Race Theory in the Age of Ultra-Violence", jointly with teachers, researchers, activists, cultural programmers, artists and doctoral students from various national and international institutions.

CES is committed to contribute to a safe academic space, free of offensive and discriminatory behaviours that threaten the dignity of its community and of all the people who contribute to it and visit.
