Paul Richards, an anthropologist with significant experience in tackling the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone in 2014-2016, proposes a reflection on how the long history of endemics and epidemics in the African continent and the responses to these can contribute to the understanding of different contexts and capacities and limits of the preparation of the various African countries for the current pandemic
