Neil Singh, Cholera and coronavirus: why we must not repeat the same mistakes

Neil Singh

The Guardian

Overview

The history of cholera epidemics and the different responses to them in metropolises of the North and in colonial territories since the 19th century is recalled by the author to highlight the persistence, in addition to formal colonialism, of forms of colonial domination that persist in the framework of global health. What can this history teach us about coping with the current pandemic, and how can we not make the same mistakes?
