Eliane Sebeika Rapchan


Biography

Eliane Sebeika Rapchan is currently developing post-doctoral research at the Center for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra. She is a Lecturer at the Graduate Program in Social Sciences at the State University of Maringá (PGC-UEM) and a Collaborating Researcher at LAAAE (Laboratory of Archeology, Environmental and Evolutionary Anthropology at IB-USP. She obtained two postdoctoral degrees at the Laboratory of Evolutionary Studies at the Institute of Biosciences of the University of São Paulo (LEEH-IB-USP) under the supervision of Prof. Walter Neves (2010-12) and at the Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo (IP-USP) under the supervision of Prof. César Ades (2005). All these projects address debates on issues of humanity and animality. Consolidate her career in anthropological theory with emphasis in intellectual trajectories, nature/culture and relationships (theoretical, historical, epistemological and others) between sociocultural anthropology and biosciences, especially primatology, biological anthropology and ethology emphasizing anthropology of science, ideas and knowledge. In the same direction, she develops research with the aim of studying relationships between humans and animals from ethnographic records, emphasizing behavioral research on chimpanzees, bonobos, capuchin monkeys and, more recently, elephants. Most of her articles published in the last 22 years, as well as your participation in events and round tables emphasizes about the primatological conceptions of cultures of chimpanzees from the perspectives of sociocultural anthropology. Some of the manuscripts also address various perspectives of the relationships between humans and non-humans, such as theoretical, methodological, epistemological and ideological relationships between anthropology and biosciences, as well as the references for Darwinian thinking on the social sciences. The researcher is also a member of the Brazilian Association of Anthropology (ABA) and the Study Group on Anthropology of Science and Technology (GEACT). She participates in the CNPq Research Groups: Laboratory for Research in Anthropology (LAPA) and Non-Human Human Interfaces (INUMA-UFS).
