Following on from the series The Weft of Memory: dates to count, organised by the coordinators of the thematic line Europe and the Global South: heritages and dialogues, which ran throughout 2023, a new series begins now.
A series of 4 online lectures The Weft of Memory: spaces to recount dedicated to 4 African cities where the struggles for African independences and the 25 April 1974 were also forged.
This first lecture is dedicated to Lusaka (Zambia) and its relevance to the circulation of ideas and people in the context of African liberation movements against European, and Portuguese colonialism in particular.

Bio note
Susana Martins is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Lisbon School of Education and an integrated researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History at NOVA FCSH. She has a degree in History (1995), a master's degree in 20th Century Contemporary History (2002) and a PhD in Contemporary History (2013) from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at NOVA University Lisbon. At the same institution, she completed a master's degree in History Teaching in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education (2017). Between 2017 and 2019, she carried out a post-doctoral project entitled “De Rabat a Argel: caminhos cruzados entre a luta antifascista e a luta anticolonial (1961-1974)”, as a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. She is the author of several works on the subject, including “O exílio português no Marrocos independente: dinâmicas e protagonistas,” Revista de História das Ideias 38 (2020): 243-267; Exilados portugueses em Argel. A FPLN das origens à ruptura com Humberto Delgado (Afrontamento, 2018); Socialistas na Oposição ao Estado Novo Livro. Um Estudo Sobre o Movimento Socialista Português de 1926 a 1974 (Casa das Letras, 2005).
