Fernando Almeida | Psychiatrist and university lecturer. Holds a degree and a doctorate from the University of Porto. He worked at Magalhães Lemos Hospital (1985-2011) where he was coordinator of Forensic Psychiatry (2000-2003), head of the Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology Unit (2003-2011) and assistant clinical director (2005-2006).
Associate Professor at the University of Maia (UMAIA, formerly Instituto Universitário da Maia-ISMAI), he was head of the Department (1999-2009), coordinator of the Master's Degree in Psychology of Justice (2007-2016) and President of the Scientific Council (2010-2018).
Since 2020, he has been President of UMAIA's Ethics and Deontology Council. Visiting Professor at the University of Porto (FMUP and ICBAS) and other public and private Universities/Institutions. Physician and Coordinator of the Psychiatry and Psychology Unit at Hospital Lusíadas Porto since 2016.
Member of the Advisory Committee of the “Unidad de Psicología Jurídica y Forense” at the University of Granada since 2016. Member of the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S) since 2018.
President of the Forensic Psychiatry Subspeciality Section of the College of Psychiatry of the Portuguese Medical Association (triennium 2021-2024).
Marta Ávila | Marta Ávila holds a law Degree from the University of Coimbra, and has been practising law in Coimbra since she joined the Portuguese Bar Association (OA) in 2001. She is a facilitator for Turismo de Portugal in the area of law and ethics, having taken part in the first international training programme, as well as executive training, postgraduate courses and technological courses. She specialises in Law and Information Technology at the University of Minho, where she studied for a Master's degree in the same area, and in the development of her Postgraduate Diploma in Notarial and Registration Law at the University of Coimbra, aware of the need to keep up to date. She has taken several digital courses in various areas of law, especially at the Nova School of Law, attended a post-graduate course in Administrative and Tax Justice, and several short post-graduate courses in commercial and labour law, and Medical Secrecy, at the University of Coimbra.
Ávila is currently Member-Secretary of the OA's Coimbra Regional Council (2023-2025 term), in charge of Continuing Education, having previously been a Member of the OA's District Council and Coimbra Regional Council for two terms, and Deputy Rapporteur of the OA's Superior Council for another two. Due to her interest in ethics and deontology, she was a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Coimbra Football Association for a first term as 1st Member, and was subsequently Vice-Chairman of this body, a position held for the first time by a woman.
