Rosario Suárez Nelson
She began working with vulnerable populations in 2000 at the Ministry of the Province of Salta, Argentina, I.P.V. While studying a degree in Psychology, she trained in Aeronautical Psychology in Buenos Aires, working at Editorial Oceano in the area of education in deprived neighbourhoods. In Portugal, she studied for an Integrated Master's Degree in Psychology at ISPA, where she was already part of the refugee counselling team of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). In this team, she is responsible for the processes and implementation of the REACH -FOR Reconciliation model with Dr Ángela Ordóñez (Spain). Expert in Mental Health and Psychological Interventions with Immigrants, Minorities and Socially Excluded People from the University of Barcelona. Trained in techniques such as EMDR and TIR. Under the supervision of Dr Bruno Brito, she was responsible for mental health screening and follow-up processes. In 2020 she took over the coordination of the Mental Health Office at JRS Portugal. She implemented the Psychologists and Psychiatrists Exchange project, responding to 14 districts in mental health for the migrant and refugee population, and was recognised by the OPP as a Good Practice in Mental Health. She has taken part in various training programmes at different universities. She was a speaker at the last OPP congress and at the 13th International Congress on Mental Health and Migration.
