Aida Dias | aida.dias.21@gmail.com
PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology (2018) from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands (with funding from the Foundation for Science and Technology), and a degree in cognitive-behavioural clinical psychology (2002) from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, University of Coimbra. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) (2018-2020). She has experience of clinical work with ex-combatants in the area of post-traumatic stress at the Military Hospital of Coimbra, where she collaborated in research projects with Luísa Sales, and with children and adolescents with school adaptation difficulties. She was a researcher in the project "Children of War: post-memory and representations", coordinated by Margarida Calafate Ribeiro and funded by FCT (2007-2010).
Her current interests are the consequences of chronic abuse during childhood throughout life and understanding the consequences of war in the families of ex-combatants. She has participated in national and international scientific meetings on the topic, including several European projects (TENTS_TP and IPPHEC) on psychosocial intervention in crisis situations and has published in international journals in her area.

Ana França
Graduated in Journalism from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, with a post-graduate degree from the London School of Journalism. After an initial professional experience in Macau, in 2012 she joined the team that launched "Monocle 24", the radio project of the British magazine Monocle. During her years in London he worked for the Daily Telegraph newspaper, the New Statesman magazine and was the correspondent of Expresso in the British capital for four years. In 2014 and 2015 she joined the social start-up On Our Radar, a project by a group of journalists of different nationalities aimed at promoting social inclusion by teaching basic concepts of journalism, with the goal of even the most isolated communities in the world being able to tell their stories without relying on Western media. Working for the Expresso, being part of its editorial team since her return to Portugal in 2016, over the years she has reported in areas of conflict and high tension, particularly in the Middle East, the Balkans or in refugee camps. She recently spent eight weeks in Ukraine, where she followed the violence of war and, above all, its effects on people and their lives.

PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minho (UM) and lecturer at the Department of Applied Psychology at the School of Psychology at the University of Minho. She is Vice-President of the Psychology School and President of the Pedagogical Council. She is part of the board of the International Society of Behavioral Medicine, was President of the Portuguese Society of Health and Behavior and is coordinator of the Research Unit on Victims, Offenders and Justice System of the Research Center for Psychology at the School of Psychology of the UM. She integrates the Scientific Council of the Stress Resources Centre in Military Context of the Ministry of Defence and has been coordinator and co-coordinator of projects funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology and by bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Justice. She has collaborated and is coordinator of several research projects in the area of health, trauma, justice and violence, and is author or co-author of dozens of national and international publications on these themes.

António Sousa Ribeiro | asr@ces.uc.pt
He is director of CES since April 2019 and retired full professor of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (German Studies) of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. Throughout his career as a teacher and researcher, he has held various positions, including those of president of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (2000-2002), president of the Scientific Board of CES (2003-2007), coordinator of the CES board (2014-2019), director of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (2009-2011) and was also responsible for the Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (1991-2008). He has published extensively on the topics of German-speaking literature ( with a special focus on Karl Kraus and Viennese modernity), comparative literature, literary theory, cultural studies, postcolonial studies, sociology of culture, and on issues of violence, culture and identities. He is also dedicated to literary translation, having been awarded the 2017 National Translation Prize.

Camila Borges | camilaborges@ces.uc.pt
Degree in Anthropology (2011) and Master's Degree in Medical Anthropology (2013) from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC). Since June 2020, she has been a member of the CES Trauma Observatory team and participates in the project "Practices of Medicine and Psychiatry in the Context of the Colonial War: Memories on the Ground", promoted by the Ministry of National Defence's Centre for Stress Resources in Military Context.

Catarina Ribeiro | catarinafreitasribeiro@gmail.com
She has a degree in Journalism from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra and a Master's in Sociology from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, having developed a master's research related to the sonorities of Coimbra, reflecting on the past and present of the city from sound experiences. She works, since 2014, in communication, having collaborated in projects in various areas, such as culture, tourism or politics. Since 2019, she is part of the communication team of a higher education institution, where she is currently working in several areas, namely in the press office related to research. Since 2018, she is a PhD student in Sociology at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, and is developing a research project that dialogues with the areas of tourism and communication, from the analysis of the visit to places that are linked to death and suffering, in the national context.

Cátia Soares
Born in 1994 in Oliveira de Azeméis. In 2012, when she moved to Coimbra she started her activism in Human Rights in SDDH/AAC. Between 2015 and 2018 she was a listener at SOS Estudante. In 2017 she joined the Programming Department of Radio Universidade de Coimbra (RUC) as a radio broadcaster - an activity she maintains at the present. Currently she works as a bookseller at Faz de Conto, where she explores her literary interest and conciliates her professional activity with her taste for conversation and dramatic storytelling to children. She is currently finishing her degree in International Relations in the Faculty of Economy of the University of Coimbra.

PhD. in Modern Languages: Cultures and Literatures (2019), a joint programme of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra (FLUC) and CES, with the dissertation "Since Why is Difficult - The Representation of Violence and Trauma in African-American and Afro-Caribbean Literature by Women: Autobiography, Fiction, and Subjectivity Construction in the Bildungsroman", funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology and published in book form by DeGruyter under the title Reconfigurations of the Bildungsroman. Taking Refuge from Violence in Kincaid, Danticat, hooks, and Morrison (2022). His central research themes are: American studies, African American literature, Caribbean literature, autobiography, women's writing and feminist studies, representations of violence and trauma. He is currently Visiting Assistant Professor at FLUC and collaborating researcher at the Centre for English Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (NOVA-FCSH).

Inácio Ludgero | geral@iludgero.com
Born in Amadora in 1950, Inácio Ludgero studied Sculpture at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts, and joined the staff of the evening paper "A Capital" on 1st June 1972. From there he moved to "O Jornal", where he worked as photojournalist from the first issue, on 1st May 1975, the date he joined the company, until the weekly was closed down in November 1992. Currently, since he left the magazine "Visão" on the 10th of March 2008, he is a freelancer. He collaborated in the Portuguese Society of Authors, where he is a cooperator. In 1994, he won the Gazeta Award (National Prize of Photo-importage of 1993, from the Journalists' Club) with the cover photo of the first number of "Visão", made in the column of Huambo (Angola), with the title "Black Pietá", which would be distinguished as one of the 50 photos of the XX century by Associated Press, in July 1999. About Timor, where he attended the referendum, he published, in February 2000, a photographic album with the title "12 Days with the Martyrs of Silence". In 2003, he participated in the book "20 years of the Constitutional Court". In May 2020 he published the book Um Mundo Aflito, in an edition sponsored by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores and published by Guerra & Paz. On June 1st of this year he celebrated 50 years of professional card and unionization in the Journalists' Union. He held an exhibition commemorating this date, in the Municipal Museum of Ferreira do Alentejo and in the Press House, with the title "Vencer o Tempo" (Beating Time). He was decorated as Commendatory of the Order of Merit, by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the 50th anniversary dinner of the Professional Card, at the Journalists' Club.

Inês Nascimento Rodrigues | inesrodrigues@ces.uc.pt
Inês Nascimento Rodrigues is a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra in the research line "Europe and the Global South: heritages and dialogues". She is part of the coordination team of the Trauma Observatory at CES. Between 2020 and 2022, she co-coordinated the research group NHUMEP - Humanities, Migrations and Peace Studies. Presently, she develops her investigation within "CROME - Crossed Memories, Politics of Silence: The Colonial-Liberation Wars in Postcolonial Times", coordinated by Miguel Cardina and funded by the European Research Council. She holds a PhD in Postcolonialisms and Global Citizenship from CES/FEUC, in which she produced a study of the «Batepá Massacre» in São Tomé and Príncipe, winner of the 11th edition of the CES Award for Young Portuguese-speaking Social Scientists. Her current research interests include memory and cultural studies, postcolonial theories and the debates about the representation and commemoration of the Colonial-Liberation wars. She is book review editor and member of the editorial board of Práticas da História. Journal on Theory, Historiography and Uses of the Past and is part of the editorial board of e-cadernos CES.

Joana P. Becker | joanapbecker@gmail.com
Psychologist, psychoanalytic psychotherapist and researcher at the Trauma Observatory at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra (UC), she is also a Guest Lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Coimbra (FPCEUC). She collaborates as a teacher in the Masters in Social and Cultural Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine of the UC and is a member of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Future International Leadership Group. She is part of the team at the Stress Resource Centre in Military Context of the Ministry of National Defence and, as a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at FPCEUC, she investigates the effects of Dynamic Psychotherapy in the treatment of traumatic stress symptoms in firefighters who were involved in fighting the 2017 forest fires in central Portugal. She is also a trainer in courses and workshops on PTSD and crisis and catastrophic situations, a speaker at mental health events and participates in peer review processes in national and international scientific journals.

He holds a PhD in Communication Sciences (2014) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra, where he is assistant professor and director of the Master's Degree in Journalism and Communication. Before dedicating himself exclusively to academic life he was a journalist (1982-2006). He is part of the research team of CEIS20 - Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on the 20th Century of the University of Coimbra -, in the project Observatory of Journalism Deontology and Cartographies of Journalism Ethics and Citizenship - Partnership for the Media. He participated in the project, "Political Corruption in the Media: A Comparative Perspective" (Media and Journalism Research Centre/FCT, 2014-2016). He is the author of a vast bibliography published in Portugal and abroad, on Journalism and Organizational Communication. Among his research lines he highlights: a) History of media and journalism; b) information, disinformation, journalism and democracy; c) organizational reputation and the media; d) memory as a construction of meaning of organizations. Co-founder and first director of the non-profit newspaper, sinalAberto. Since 2018 he integrates the research group, in Portugal, of the Lusophone Network for Information Quality (RLQI).

João Veloso
Collaborating researcher of the CES Trauma Observatory. He has a degree in Clinical Psychology from the Lusófona University of Lisbon. He has training in Psychotraumatology at the CES Trauma Observatory and is a specialist in Clinical Psychology, Health and Community Intervention. He is a psychotherapist, working mainly with children, adolescents and families. Coordinator - Psychologist in Emergency Intervention and Psychotraumatology at ANAFS (ONGD - Civil Protection). Trainer and Supervisor for children and adolescents certified by EMDR Europe and Portugal. Trained in TIR. Trainer of Trainers for TENTS-TP (The European Network for Traumatic Stress - Training & Practice Member). He has several participations and presentations in national and international scientific meetings focused on Psychotraumatology of Children and Adolescents, developing innovative psychotherapeutic procedures..

Lior Zisman Zalis | liorzzalis@gmail.com
PhD student in Post-Colonialisms and Global Citizenship at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra with the project "Insurgent Spiritualities and Enchanted Politics", funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. In this context, he is a collaborating researcher of the POLICREDOS Working Group (CES) and of the Laboratory for Studies in Anthropology of Politics at the Federal University of Maranhão. He holds a Master's degree in Comparative Studies of Literature, Art and Thought from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra (2019), training in Critical Theory and Museum Studies from the Independent Studies Programme of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona - MACBA (2018) and a degree in Law with a specialty in "State and Society" from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) (2016). He has worked as a researcher at the PUC-Rio Human Rights Nucleus on projects in the field of memory studies, transitional justice and monitoring of human rights violations in the Brazilian military dictatorship, and has collaborated with spaces such as the MACBA, Hangar, La Escocesa, among others.

She is a psychiatrist and a Senior Graduate Assistant in the Medical Hospital Career. She is a Didactic Therapist of the Portuguese Psychodrama Society and, since 1997, she directs psychodrama therapeutic groups with PTSD victims. She is Coordinator of the Trauma Observatory/CES. CES researcher, she develops her scientific interests in the areas of psychiatric and psychosocial intervention in crisis, psychiatry of catastrophe, post-traumatic stress and psychological pathologies in ex-combatants. She is a member of the Scientific Board of the Centre for Stress Resources in a Military Context (CRSCM) of the Ministry of National Defence, where she coordinates its clinical component. She has participated in European research projects linked to the structuring of psychosocial networks and post-disaster therapeutic interventions. She coordinated the clinical area of the project "The Children of the Colonial War: post-memory and representations", innovative for its multidisciplinary characteristics. She was elected to the Board of Directors of ESTSS (mandates 2011-2013 and 2013-2015). She is currently a member of the Global Collaboration on Traumatic Stress. Since 2013 she has been teaching in the Master's Degree in Cultural and Social Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. She has structured and coordinated the CES Training Courses in Psychotraumatology with access to the ESTSS European General Certificate. She coordinated the publication of the book Psychiatry of Catastrophe and Crisis Intervention (Almedina, 2007).

Margarida Calafate Ribeiro | margaridacr@ces.uc.pt
Margarida Calafate Ribeiro is coordinator-researcher at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and coordinator of the research line Europe and the Global South: inheritances and dialogues (with Maria Paula Meneses and Miguel Cardina). She has a PhD in Portuguese Studies from King's College, University of London (2001), an MA from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a degree from the Universidade de Aveiro. She is a lecturer in the Post-Colonialism and Global Citizenship PhD programme (CES/ FEUC) at the University of Coimbra and, with Roberto Vecchi, she is responsible for the Eduardo Lourenço Chair, Camões / University of Bologna and the coordination of post-graduate e-learning courses of Camões Institute of Language and Cooperation. She is a member of the scientific commission of the research laboratory "LABEX - Les passés dans le présent", University of Paris Nanterre and of the Editorial Scientific Commission of the Secretariat of State of Communities/ Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda. In 2015 she received a grant from the European Research Council (ERC), with the research project "MEMOIRS – Children of Empire and European Post-Memories", which she coordinated at the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra and is currently coordinator of the FCT project "MAPS - European Post-Memories: A Post-Colonial Cartography". She is author, co-author and organizer of several books, book chapters and articles.

Psychiatrist. Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, researcher at the I3S - Institute for Research and Innovation in Health and collaborator-researcher of the CES Trauma Observatory. Psychotherapist and Supervisor in Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies accredited by the APTC. Founding member of the Portuguese Society of Clinical Communication in Health Care (SP3CS), and National Representative in the International Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH). She is responsible for the teaching of curricular units of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles and of the continuing education course "Motivational Interviewing - theory and practice" and the continuing education course "Clinical Communication Skills". Her main research interests are Communication in health contexts and its relationship with clinical outcomes, satisfaction and therapeutic adherence. She has developed research in depression and chronic and autoimmune disease and in trauma, stress and disease.
