2nd Module of the IV Course on Psychotraumatology of the Trauma Centre/CES

Contents
Neurological and endocrinological impacts of psychological trauma and the neurophysiological and immunological mechanisms linking health/illness and traumatic experience.

Each trainer gives a presentation of about 60-75 minutes, plus 30 minutes for discussion.


Trainers

Albino J. Oliveira-Maia - Psychiatrist, Director of the Neuropsychiatry Unit of the Champalimuad Clinical Centre, Principal Researcher at the Champalimaud Research Centre and Guest Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of the NOVA Medical School, in Lisbon.

Margarida Figueiredo-Braga - Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and researcher at I3S. She is interested in the research and teaching of Clinical Communication and the therapeutic relation, while founding member of SP3CS (Portuguese Society for Clinical Communication in Health Care). In 2009, she concluded her PhD in Medicine with the thesis “Depression and Immunity: Lessons from a study of SLE Patients”. Other scientific research interests include the impact of life events and stress in the immune system and psychological and biological factors of resilience to stress and depression. She is associate researcher at the Trauma Observatory/CE, member of the Board of Directors of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) and also member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Psychotraumatology (EJPT).
